EMERGING ABORIGINAL ARTISTS

This collection of Aboriginal art showcases some of the most promising young artists from Australia. The artists live and work in Warlukurlangu: Artists of Yuendumu, which is one of the longest running and successful Aboriginal-owned art centres in Central Australia. Warlukurlangu Artists is supported by funding from the Australian government through the Indigenous Visual Arts Industry Support as well as by the sale of the art. The artists live and work on site. They begin with a small canvas usually 8"x11". As the artists’ work sells he/she is given a larger canvas. This collection of paintings is by some of the most promising young artists, many of whom have won awards. Some of the artists descend from well-known Aboriginal art families. Each of the paintings tells a story that has to do with the location the painting represents.
